How can public services help tackle poverty stigma?

Location Ty Pawb, Wrexham
Date 10 November 2023

Our recent research on the lived experience of poverty and social exclusion in Wales highlighted the importance of tackling poverty stigma – both because poverty stigma harms the mental health of people in poverty, and because it can make it harder for them to get the support they need or participate in their communities.

In response, we are currently exploring how research and evidence could help public services in Wales tackle poverty stigma more effectively.

Join us for a workshop in collaboration with the Co-production Network and the International Public Policy Observatory (UCL) to discuss this important issue.

Friday 10 November 10am – 3pm; Tŷ Pawb, Wrexham. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

The event will bring together lived experience experts, researchers, policymakers and practitioners to explore what we know about poverty stigma and reflect on what this means for policy and practice.

We will also look at how WCPP and others could support public services to access and apply evidence to tackle poverty stigma more effectively.

This event has now reached its capacity but please email charlotte.morgan@wcpp.org.uk if you are interested in engaging with our work in this area.
