WCPP selected as a finalist for ESRC Celebrating Impact Prize

We are delighted to announce that the Centre has been selected as a finalist for this year’s ESRC’s Celebrating Impact Prize in recognition of the way in which it has enabled Ministers to use evidence to inform policy decisions.

The prestigious prize, now in its seventh year, celebrates ESRC-funded teams who have achieved outstanding economic or social impact, and finalists are chosen through a rigorous process conducted by senior academics, engagement and knowledge exchange experts and research users.

ESRC Executive Chair, Professor Jennifer Rubin said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for social scientists to be recognised for the impact their work makes. Previous winners have produced excellent work across a breadth of topics.”

The Centre’s Director, Professor Steve Martin said: “We are delighted that the ESRC is celebrating the impact we have been able to achieve. It is testimony to the quality of the work which our team produces and the way in which Welsh Ministers have opened up the policy process to the best available evidence.”

The ESRC has commissioned a professionally made film about the Centre’s work and impact, which will be released in the near future.

The award ceremony will take place at the Royal Society in London on 9th July 2019.
