Professor Annette Boaz

Annette is Professor in Health and Social Care Policy at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

She is a leading expert on the impact of research on policy and practice and until recently co-edited Evidence & Policy, the leading international journal in the field. With colleagues at Brunel University she completed an evidence synthesis for National Institute for Health Research exploring whether research engagement (by clinicians, managers and teams) leads to better outcomes for patients, and she led the MRC funded See-Impact study which explored the ways in which stakeholder engagement at different stages of a medical research project might help to maximize its impact. She has supported a number of initiatives in the field including the ESRC Impact Prize and the NIHR Knowledge Mobilisation Research Fellowship programme.

In addition to her work on research impact she has expertise in service improvement research, public and patient involvement in research and in patient experience research and has just completed an evaluation of a Health Foundation funded improvement intervention: Patient and Family Centred Care.
