Youth Homelessness Prevention Pathways

Project status Completed

Tackling homelessness, and reducing the risk of homelessness for young people in particular, is a priority for the Welsh Government. At the launch of the End Youth Homelessness Cymru (EYHC) coalition in 2017, the First Minister announced that he would ask us to research the causes and effective prevention of youth homelessness. We are undertaking this work now. The policy challenge is to build on existing knowledge and practice, in Wales and internationally, to identify effective pathways that can divert young people from becoming homeless in the first place. Effective pathways are likely to need a growing understanding of the long-term factors that mean a young person is more likely to experience homelessness.
