Promoting economic growth: lessons from other nations and regions

Project status Active

In December 2017, the Welsh Government launched its Economic Action Plan, part of which included a new Ministerial Advisory Board, tasked with informing policy making and providing strong and challenging external advice. This project supports the new Board in informing ideas relating to good growth, and particularly to review the available evidence on the strategies that have been adopted by other small countries and/or peripheral regions that have been successful in promoting economic growth.

This work looks at international examples and useful lessons from them that might apply for Wales, particularly where they have sought to address key themes of the Economic Action Plan, such as productivity, innovation and the foundational economy.
