There are concerns regarding the likely long-term cumulative effect of leaving the European Union on household incomes. The Counsel General and Minister for Brexit has asked the Centre to undertake an assignment analysing the implications of Brexit for household incomes and poverty in Wales. This includes looking across the Welsh Government’s approach to Brexit handling, identifying at-risk groups, and considering the responses to assist them.
The main aim of this assignment is to bring together officials directly with experts, who can consider not only the effects of Brexit, but consider them in light of previous economic shocks (such as the financial crisis). This will allow the Welsh Government to sense-check their thinking and provide a space for critical reflection.
