Tackling loneliness in Wales through the pandemic and beyond

Location Online
Date 14 July 2021

The Wales Centre for Public Policy is convening a digital engagement programme to bring together key stakeholders working across the loneliness policy and public service landscape in Wales and beyond. It will host, with support from strategic partners Kaleidoscope Health and Care, a digital conference on 14 and 15 July 2021, and produce a series of blogs and videos by key stakeholders to enhance and broaden the conversation.

The event will be split across two sessions:

  • 10:30-12:00 on 14 July
  • 10:30-12:00 on 15 July

We would be delighted for any and all stakeholders in this space, whether practitioners or policy-makers, to attend this event. We would urge you to attend both sessions.

The purpose of the event, which will be highly interactive, will be to:

  • Showcase the work going on to tackle loneliness and social isolation in Wales, with inspiring practitioner and research-led presentations and sharing of learning between participants
  • Understand what local decision-makers need to tackle loneliness and how they can be supported

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Olivia Field – Head of Health and Resilience Policy at British Red Cross
  • Naomi Lea – Founder of Project Hope & Youth Volunteering Support Officer at WCVA
  • Dr Jamie Smith – Director of Research and Innovation at Hafod
  • Dr Kalpa Kharicha – Head of Research, Policy and Practice at Campaign to End Loneliness
  • Cllr Alyson Pugh – Councillor at Swansea Council

Further speakers and an agenda for the event will be announced a few days before the event.

We hope you can join us!
