Laura is Professor of Public Policy and the Governance of Wales at Cardiff University’s Wales Governance Centre.
She is an expert on devolution, Welsh politics and elections, and gender. A former Wales international football player and captain, Laura was Chair of Sport Wales for six years and a Board Member of UK Sport. She is currently Director of Football Association of Wales Trust and Deputy Chair of UEFA Women’s Football Committee. Laura was also Chair of the National Assembly Expert Panel on Electoral Reform, 2017 and is a former member of the Welsh Assembly Remuneration Board, Independent Panel on AMs Pay and Support, the Richard Commission on the Powers and Electoral Arrangements for the National Assembly for Wales.
Laura is a columnist for Western Mail/Wales Online and a media commentator on politics and sport, a Board Trustee of Institute of Welsh Affairs and non-executive director of Goodson Thomas Executive Search.
She has been awarded honorary degrees and fellowships from Bangor, Cardiff, Cardiff Metropolitan, Swansea, Swansea Trinity St David’s, and South Wales universities.
