Phil is Chief Executive Officer of the Political Studies Association, the UK’s learned society for academics working in political science. He is responsible for implementing the PSA’s strategic objectives including increasing the impact of research on policy and promoting greater engagement between the research and policymaker communities. He is also a member of the British Academy’s Research and Higher Education Policy Committee and an active member of the Academy of Social Science’s Chief Officers Group.
Phil was previously Director of Policy, Resources and Communications and Deputy Chief Executive at the Economic and Social Research Council and led for the ESRC on the What Works initiative including membership of the WW Advisory Council and the previous PPIW Advisory Board.
