Adrian is a Research Fellow at the Wales Centre for Public Policy.  Adrian has wide-ranging experience of policy-led research, focusing on innovation, regional economic development and the resilience of people and places to shocks and crises.  He has worked extensively with local, regional and national authorities in the UK as well as with several of the European Commission Directorate-Generals, EU Member States and the OECD.

He has acted as an expert advisor to a range of bodies including to the House of Commons’ Select Committee Inquiry into Reducing Regional Disparities in Prosperity in the UK; the EU’s Horizon 2020 Advisory Board for Strengthening Excellence and Widening Participation, and to the OECD for their work on Resilient Cities.

In Wales, Adrian was co-chair of the advisory group supporting the development of Innovation Wales and supported the work of the Independent Growth Commission for the Cardiff Capital Region City Deal.  Adrian was previously a Director of the European consultancy company ECORYS, where he managed the Company’s Brussels Office and was responsible for themes of innovation, competitiveness and regional economic development.
