Research Associate – LIPSIT

The research will explore local economic institutions across UK regions; the multiple priorities included in local strategies and how these are negotiated; the trade-offs that are made between productivity growth, inclusivity and sustainability; and examples of good practice in managing these trade-offs.

The Research Associate will:

i) lead the analysis of local strategies;
ii) support the development of a typology of local economies; and
iii) contribute to the institutional analysis and collection and analysis of qualitative (interview) data.

They have particular responsibility for researching the Welsh institutional context and a range of research, knowledge exchange and dissemination activities to maximise the impact of the research with policy makers and practitioners.

The Research Associate will be based in the Wales Centre for Public Policy, which is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council and the Welsh Government. The Centre’s staff work closely with ministers, special advisers and senior officials in national and local government providing them with high quality independent social science evidence that can directly inform policy decisions. In recognition of its success, the Centre was selected as a finalist for this year’s prestigious ESRC’s Prize for Outstanding Impact on Policy.
